The Origin: Jean-Claude Ellena's Concentrated Wonder
Released in 2006, Elixir des Merveilles was created by legendary master perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena as an intensified, gourmand variation of the original 2004 Eau des Merveilles (composed by Ralf Schwieger and Nathalie Feisthauer).
Ellena wanted to heighten the gourmand and woody dimensions without making the fragrance overly heavy or synthetic. By dipping the signature bitter orange note into sweet resins (benzoin and Peru balsam) and dark chocolate-tonka facets, he created the sensation of a magical potion ("Elixir") that feels like a warm embrace on a cool autumn evening.
