The Origin: Christine Nagel's Tribute to Barénia Leather
Released in 2024, Barénia was created by in-house master perfumer Christine Nagel as the first major feminine Chypre pillar for Hermès.
The name pays direct homage to Barénia calfskin—one of the house’s most legendary and supple leathers, famous for absorbing the natural oils of the wearer to develop a rich, unique patina over time. Nagel wanted to translate this exact physical tactile quality into perfume form: a scent that doesn't just sit on the skin, but merges with it.
The Studded Collier de Chien Flacon: Designed by Philippe Mouquet, the 100 ml bottle is inspired by the iconic Hermès Collier de Chien (dog collar) bracelet. The elliptical glass vessel features a curved metal plate across its shoulders, adorned with metallic pyramid studs (Clous de Paris) that catch the light like fine jewelry.
